Recently, I took a summer vacation and went to Disneyland and DisneySea with my family for a night. I won’t go into detail about the Disney Resort, but I’d like to share my impressions of the hotel we stayed at and some points I noticed when going to Disneyland and DisneySea.
Overview of Tokyo Bay Maihama Hotel First Resort
- Located next to Tokyo Disneyland®, the hotel boasts an excellent location with free shuttle buses to the Disney Resort Line’s Bayside Station and JR Maihama Station.
- The hotel has approximately 696 guest rooms and a wide range of facilities, including restaurants, a sky lounge, banquet halls, conference rooms, shops, and a wedding hall.
The charm and concept of the guest rooms
- Comprised of three buildings, the hotel’s popular concept rooms feature a variety of themes, including the Old West, castles, 1950s America, and large passenger ships (cruising cabins). The space is designed to be an extraordinary experience for families.
- The cruising cabin building (ANNEX) is modeled after a large passenger ship, and features playful designs such as the captain’s special room, a design that children will also enjoy.
- Standard room types such as standard family rooms and casual rooms are also available, so you can choose a stay that suits your needs.
Facilities and Services
- There are several restaurants within the hotel, and they also offer event-related buffets (such as crab and melon, Matsusaka beef, and autumn flavors) as well as special accommodation plans (such as Disney Halloween).
- Parking is available for a standard rate of 2,700 yen per night (1,100 yen per night from the second night onwards), making it convenient for those who drive.
- Dry cleaning and laundry services, as well as an extensive on-site shop, are also available, making it ideal for long-term stays and family trips.
Access and Benefits
- Located close to the Disney Monorail’s Bayside Station, travel to each park is seamless. It can also be conveniently used in conjunction with the free shuttle bus.
- As an official hotel, you can enjoy perks such as being able to purchase park tickets at the hotel via the Tokyo Disney Resort® Welcome Center.
What I felt when using it and key points
- While reasonably priced, the hotel’s proximity to Disneyland and excellent location are a plus.
- For a total of four people (two adults x two rooms), the price for a one-night stay without meals was around ¥32,000.
- Check-in begins at 8:00 AM at the Tokyo Disney Resort® Welcome Center at Maihama Station. Luggage storage is also available, making it convenient. After checking in, you can also use the hotel’s mobile app for smart check-in, allowing you to quickly enter your room without having to check in face-to-face at reception.
- There’s also a free shuttle bus, which takes about five minutes to get to the hotel if it’s not busy.
- On the other hand, the rooms are a bit compact compared to other hotels in the area. This may not be ideal for large families or those prioritizing space.
- The building’s complex structure means you’ll need to confirm which building you’re staying in before heading to your room, otherwise you may end up taking the wrong elevator. (That’s what happened to me.)
- The convenience store within the hotel is a bit pricey, and it can get very busy depending on the time of day, so be aware. Although it’s called a convenience store, it’s actually a souvenir shop and general goods store, so the selection is smaller than a regular convenience store.
- It has common amenities like a refrigerator and electric kettle, so you can make things like cup ramen.
- There is one microwave and ice maker on each floor.
- Luggage deliveries start at 7:00, so it’s a good idea to get a shipping slip at the counter in advance.
- You can also purchase cardboard boxes to store souvenirs, clothes, and other luggage.
- If you don’t need to pay at check-out, you can check out by calling extension #70. There are card key boxes on the first floor of each elevator hall, so you can insert your card key there.
Tips for enjoying Tokyo Disneyland and DisneySea
Below are some tips and tricks I learned from my first visit to Disney Resort in about five years to help you have a great time. Many of these tips are useful, so please use them as a reference.
- If you want to get in early, you’ll need to line up before 7:00 AM to be in the front of the line.
- You should get your free Priority Pass as soon as you enter the park.
- Paid Premium Access also fills up over time, so it’s best to prioritize the attractions and shows you want to see.
- When ordering food at a restaurant in the park, ask for ice for free. Bring a water bottle and you can get a cold drink with ice and water.
- When it comes to food, it’s a good idea to use mobile ordering wherever possible. You can get your food without having to wait in line.
